Please be safe and watch local news reports and follow instructions of emergency services. If an evacuation order comes through, please heed that warning. At some point, EMS will evacuate as well and you don’t want to be stranded.
Did you know that there is only $8 Million in the emergency fund for Cape Coral? The city spent around $17 Million after Hurricane Irma. The council and city management are comfortable with keeping extra money in the operating fund instead of locking it away for a “rainy” day. That day could come sooner than later. I am in favor of shoring up our emergency reserves where politicians and the city manager can’t access it unless there is a clear emergency.
